The Catholic Charismatic Center is dedicated to bringing all people to the full life of Jesus Christ and his church through the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
The Catholic Charismatic Center was founded by Bishop John Morkovsky in 1972.
Fr. Richard Paulissen, M.M., was appointed as director. He continues to act as
Director Emeritus. The present facility which was completed in May of 1996, was
designed as an oratory where large numbers can attend mass and participate in
numerous pastoral ministries, as well as a meeting place and a spirituality
center for all Catholic groups in the Diocese. The main sanctuary can comfortably
seat 2500 people. The Center was designed to have a media outreach ministry
and provides numerous conference rooms for multi-concurrent meetings. We
believe the Center enhances the ability of the Diocese to minister to the Catholic
Faithful. We are blessed to have the Companions of the Cross as full-time priests
for our Center. They assumed responsibility of the Center in September 1999.
Charismatic movements exist in other denominations and their purpose is to
serve and renew their own churches in the same way. We are Roman Catholic
and adhere strictly to all doctrines and regulations of the Catholic Church.
A "Charismatic Mass” is no different from any Catholic Church; however, you
will notice a more joyful atmosphere and rather lively music. At times people may
raise their hands in prayer and you may witness the use of some of the gifts of
the Spirit. Each person attending a Charismatic Mass realizes that God is his
Father and, therefore, see each other as brothers and sisters. The Holy Sacrifice
of the Mass becomes a joyful gathering of God’s family. We encourage each
person attending to feel free to be themselves. There is no requirement to raise
your hands or pray in any way that is uncomfortable. We are happy to have
you visit us online and extend an invitation for you to visit us at the Center.
